Washington Brain Injury, Apple Health LTSS, and Hearing Help
Washington separates its TBI information and peer-support system from Apple Health Medicaid eligibility and long-term services. A person may need to use both routes: DSHS TBI resources for connection and Apple Health or DSHS for Medicaid-funded care.
Start here
If you need home or community support: open the official program links below and ask for the current application or assessment route.
If you already receive services: keep the service plan, assessment, and every written notice together.
If services were denied, reduced, delayed, suspended, or stopped: follow the notice and act before the deadline shown.
Official program and application route
The official Washington DSHS Traumatic Brain Injury page provides TBI information, referral, education, and support starting points.
The Apple Health long-term care page explains that qualified people may receive services at home, during employment or community activities, in residential settings, or in nursing facilities. The LTSS application guidance lists application and assessment routes.
If you disagree with a decision
The administrative-hearing guidance says a person or authorized representative may request a hearing verbally or in writing and lists several filing routes. The continued-coverage guidance explains the shorter timing that can apply when asking to keep existing coverage or services. Follow the notice immediately.
What to save
The exact decision, service, assessment, or accommodation requested.
Every notice, service plan, assessment, email, fax receipt, and call reference number.
The deadline and effective date printed on the notice.
How the decision affects safety, health, communication, mobility, work, or community living.
The name and contact information of every agency, plan, case manager, and representative involved.
Communication support
Ask for plain language, extra processing time during calls, written follow-up, an authorized representative, an interpreter, large print, audio, Braille, or another effective communication method. Put the request in writing when possible and keep a copy.
